Memory Loss is nominated for the Zwaan (Swan) for the most impressive dance production. The most important dance prize of the Netherlands is awarded annually by the Vereniging van Schouwburg- en Concertgebouwdirecties (VSCD – Association of Theater and Music Hall Directors).
The jury: “Memory Loss is a personal document: sincere and moving. Cruel and loving. With her trilogy, Ann Van den Broek fosters understanding for people with dementia and deserves all the credit for that. As one of the dancers says: ‘They are by no means crazy’.”
Ann Van den Broek was previously nominated for E19 (richting San José) (2007), I SOLO MENT (2009), Domestica (with Krisztina de Châtel, 2013) and Accusations (2017). For Co(te)lette (2008) and The Black Piece (2015) she actually won the Zwaan award.
Also nominted are 8: METAMORPHOSIS of Nicole Beutler Projects and Or Die Trying a production of Alida Dors / Backbone. Due to the abrupt end of the 2019-2020 theater season, the VSCD (Association of Theater and Concert Hall Directors) will not announce any winners this year. The nominees have a chance to win a coveted Zwaan award next year!
