a co-production with Toneelgroep Oostpool (NL)
Ann Van den Broek is exploring the possibilities of text and movement. She is doing this together with theatre director Marcus Azzini from Toneelgroep Oostpool, 4 actors and 5 dancers. The common ground between the two theatre makers is the physical theatre idiom of Azzini and Van den Broek’s theatrical movement idiom. The feel and content of their work is usually dramatically charged.
LIstEn & See (LIES) is about the search for balance, the perfect symbiosis; not only between language and movement, but also between body and soul. What people say and their physical expression of it (the body language) will be taken apart and re-assembled to create a new truth. Is this a lie? Look and listen.

“Overwhelming choreography. The audience is drawn into a sum of exhaustive muscular and confessions which seems to come straight from the heart.”
– Vrij Nederland (NL)
“And example of uncompromising dance theater, well-drilled execution of a war of attrition.”
– de Volkskrant (NL)
“The makers do not shun large, intense emotions. Daring physical theater and bloodcurdlingly terrifying”
– De Gelderlander (NL)
“Successful fusion of theater and dance. The form builds on previous visual theater productions by Azzini and gaining in power by Van den Broek’s clean form language.”
– Het Parool (NL)
