Restroom, a space that stands for relief, getting a load off, letting go… a basic need. A place where one can withdraw and escape to. Where one can try to drop the mask, to get something out of your system and to fantasize to one’s heart’s content.

Rest Room is about the poses and façades we all use in our social machinations in order to attain our goals, to maintain our positions, to survive. A tragicomedy in dance, an absurd choreography.

Rest Room is a duet by and from Ann Van den Broek and Einat Tuchman. The two met at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie (Rotterdam Dance Academy). During their careers as dancers, they both grew into intense performers. In their work, Ann Van den Broek and Einat Tuchman depart from the same realistic sources of inspiration and themes such as human behavior patters and moods, but because of their different approach, their pieces usually diametrically oppose each other. In Rest Room they are searching for an intriguing blend of their individual styles.
